June suits travellers who are happy in summer clothing and who want to pair city and coast days with, if they like, a cooler stretch in the Gangwon highlands.

Who June suits

June works for visitors who plan around Seoul, Busan or Jeju and are comfortable with warm days and mild nights. In June 2026 the monthly mean temperature was 24.0 °C at the Seoul station, 22.6 °C at Busan and 22.7 °C at Jeju. Those are records for one year, not a forecast, but they show what the month looked like on the ground.

Travellers who dislike heat have an alternative in the mountains. The Daegwallyeong station, in the Pyeongchang highlands of Gangwon, recorded a monthly mean temperature of 16.7 °C in June 2026. If you would rather spend part of the trip somewhere cooler than the lowlands, Gangwon is the region to look at.

Seoul, Busan and Jeju each recorded 0 snow days in June 2026. This page has no daylight figure, so it does not compare how long the days last.

What to pack and wear

  • Seoul, Busan and Jeju: light, breathable clothing. The mean daily minimum in June 2026 was 19.5 °C in Seoul, 19.8 °C in Busan and 20.3 °C on Jeju, so evenings in these places were mild on average. A monthly mean says nothing about any single night.
  • Daegwallyeong and the Gangwon highlands: add a warm layer. The mean daily minimum at the Daegwallyeong station was 10.8 °C in June 2026, against a monthly mean temperature of 16.7 °C.
  • Everywhere: sun protection and a water bottle are sensible for any warm month. This page has no rainfall figure for June, so check the forecast shortly before you leave and carry a light rain layer if it calls for one.

Where to go and what to do

The places below are chosen as general background; the weather figures above are the only evidence on this page for how June felt.

  • Seoul: a good base for palaces, museums, markets and café districts. Jung-gu is the district that includes Myeongdong, a well-known shopping street. A warm month suits walking days broken up by indoor stops.
  • Busan: a port city with beaches and coastal viewpoints, which fits the warm-weather clothing described above.
  • Jeju: an island of coastal walks and volcanic scenery, with Hallasan at its centre. With a mean temperature of 22.7 °C in June 2026 and no snow days, it fits light-clothing travel.
  • Gangwon highlands: Pyeongchang is known for its mountain resorts and valleys, and the Daegwallyeong station is the cooler record among the stations we use. Heat-sensitive travellers can use it as a base for hiking or a scenic drive.

For wet or very hot days, plan indoor options in the same area: museums, department stores, underground shopping streets in Seoul and covered markets in Busan.

Memorial Day and other dates

Memorial Day (Hyeonchungil) fell on June 6, 2026, and falls on June 6, 2027, which is a Sunday. June 3, 2026 was also a public holiday. If your own trip includes June 6, check opening hours for the places you plan to visit, and look at how holiday-week transport is running before you book.

On Memorial Day 2026 the KTO DataLab estimates for Seoul, Busan and Jeju were each 5% lower than the average of the nearest same-weekday, non-holiday observations before that day. Gyeonggi was 9% lower and Incheon was 11% lower, while Gangwon was 12% higher. Each figure compares one day with its baseline, so it describes that day only and is not a rule for other years.

June or July?

If your dates are flexible, our data has a July 2026 reading for Seoul: estimated daily foreign visitors were 24% above Seoul's own 12-month mean, which for July runs from August 1, 2025 to July 31, 2026. The June 2026 reading for Seoul was 22% above its own mean. The two months use different baseline windows, so treat them as separate readings, not as a ranking.

The data behind these answers

The visitor figures come from the Korea Tourism Organization's DataLab, which publishes estimated daily foreign visitors. They are estimates of foreign visitors per day, not counts of tourists, arrivals or unique people, and the days and regions are not added together. District rows are parts of their province or city row.

In June 2026 the daily mean of estimated foreign visitors was above each region's mean for the twelve months from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026 in every region listed in the chart. The day counts are 30 of 30 days in June 2026 and 365 of 365 days in the baseline window.

  • Provinces and cities: Seoul 177,662 per day against a 12-month mean of 145,795 (+22%); Busan +41%; Jeju 55,133 against 44,684 (+23%); Gangwon +41%; Gyeonggi +15%; Incheon +21%.
  • Districts: Pyeongchang 1,117 against 978 (+14%); Jeongseon 764 against 339 (+125%); Hongcheon 1,935 against 1,365 (+42%); Jung-gu, which includes Myeongdong, 81,627 against 67,211 (+21%).

Jeongseon's 12-month mean was small (339 estimated foreign visitors per day), so its percentage moves more than those of larger regions. These are comparisons with each region's own recent average, so they say nothing about how a place will feel on a given day.

Method and sources

Temperatures are monthly means or monthly means of daily minimums from the Korea Meteorological Administration's ASOS stations (Daegwallyeong, Seoul, Busan and Jeju) for June 2026. Holiday dates come from Korean government calendar announcements and the holiday regulations. Everything observed describes June 2026 only.
